Holy Matrimony is the covenant a man and woman make to one another and to God to work as partners for the rest of their lives. The woman and man marry one another before a witness of the Church (a priest or a deacon) and representatives of the community.
"Are you prepared, as you follow the path of Marriage, to love and honor each other for as long as you both shall live?"
Catholic Marriage is unique among other marital relationships because it is a sacrament that makes Christ's love truly present in our world. The vows exchanged by the couple are a sacred promise through which spouses share their entire lives with each other - a partnership of the whole of life.
Marriage Preparation - In order to receive the Sacrament of Marriage in the six Dioceses of the State of New Jersey, a couple must prepare in advance. It is highly recommended that engaged couples contact the Parish Office before making any plans or selecting a date for their wedding. Participation in the marriage preparation program is required. See the links below for more information.
The Pre-Cana Team is a group of married couples who, twice each year, in the Fall and Spring, prepare and present the information sessions required for marriage preparation in the Diocese of Trenton. Email Gary Maccaroni at [email protected] for more info.
Convalidation is the ritual whereby those couples who have been married outside the Catholic Church can have their marriage recognized and blessed as a valid sacramental union within the Catholic Church. See below for a Convalidation Questionnaire.
