Parish Picninc POSTPONED to Oct.1 - 1-5 PM
Confirmation is a Sacrament in the Catholic Church in which the one who is confirmed receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the imposition of hand and anointing with oils by the bishop. It’s considered a sacrament of initiation which means that it brings you deeper into communion with the Church. It is the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. Confirmation brings Catholics a deepening of baptismal grace and unites us more firmly to Christ. It increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit and leaves an indelible mark on the soul just like baptism.
Confirmation "increases and deepens (confirms) baptismal grace; unites us more firmly to Christ; increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit within us; makes our bond with the Church stronger and more perfect; renders us true witnesses of Christ, able to spread and defend our Catholic faith by word and action."
"Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Candidates stand for themselves as individuals actively choosing to live as Catholics, but they do not stand alone. Their sponsors and the Church family stands with them.
Candidates begin their two-year confirmation preparation in the seventh grade as part of our ongoing religious education program.
