Let me begin by congratulating the students of our graduating class. I am honored to have served as your principal for your last two years Saint Ann School. Parents’ thank you for the sacrifices you have made to provide your children with a Saint Ann School education. Your confidence in us as educators is the greatest trust we could ever ask for. Students, I am excited to have this opportunity speak to you today.
This group has quite the array of personalities, they made sure that we were always on our toes but also provided many spontaneous moments of laughter and fun.
There was continuous playful banter, balls “accidently” going on the roof during recess, and so much more. This class has left a lasting impression on everybody in the school. You have served as models for the younger students, who would light up into a giant smile whenever they saw one of their “big kid” friends. You all always took time to make sure they felt special, and that is truly a gift.
This year and graduation is not ending how any of us planned or expected. I never thought I would be speaking to a camera in an empty church. The fact is that COVID-19 has forced all of us to make adjustments, I cannot think of a class more capable of going with and overcoming the challenges than this class.
During times like these, many will question God and their faith. Asking, why is this happening? As students of Saint Ann School, you are NOT immune to this type of questioning and you will have reservations that cause you to ask this question throughout life. The key is to remember that God is always there for you – even more so when you have doubts. He is a gentle hand on the shoulder, a whisper in your ear, a guiding light through any darkness. You are prepared to handle all situations.
I like to say that we prepare our students – socially, emotionally, academically, and spiritually. We have prepared you for what lies ahead but remember that today you have become a part of the largest family we have at Saint Ann School – our alumni.
We are blessed to have had you as students. I look forward to you coming to visit and providing updates on how you are doing.
God Bless you all.
