He is Risen, Alleluia! This weekend is the Second Sunday of Easter, which is also the day we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. The church emphasizes today the magnitude of God’s love and His boundless mercy. Jesus in His conversation with Sister Faustina said: “Even if their sins be as many as the sands of the whole world, I will drown them all in the ocean of my goodness and mercy.” Such a powerful message of love. One that is gifted to us on Easter. One that we enjoy and hold. A love and mercy so profound that we can only say: Amen! In this newsletter, I send to you aids to make our Sunday holy. Please find the Readings for this Sunday, the Gospel, my homily and prayers you and your family may use. As we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, I encourage you to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet with the intention of imploring God to end the Covid-19, to heal the afflicted and to save the souls of those of die of it so as to receive the "Emergency Plenary Indulgence" that Vatican grants. Please see the link below. Let us continue to pray for the hundreds of people, especially our parishioners, who lost their jobs. It is with a heavy heart I share with you that due to the big crash in our weekly collections, we have to let go of some of our hardworking parish staff. Cutting expenses on other areas of our operation was the first step I took. We did well on the cuts and belt tightening. But with the prolonged quarantine restrictions, which is very necessary, our parish revenue endured further shortfalls. It was a painful decision to furlough these good people, but good stewardship of the goods entrusted to me calls for such a decision. Those who have been let go were gracious about it and fully understand the situation. Some were even kind enough to offer continued service as volunteers. Those who will be retained will also be asked to have a cut in their wages. We, as a parish, are truly blessed to have such an exemplar parish staff. Be one with me in thanking them. I am aware of the plight and difficulties many of you are enduring these past weeks. Our staff and I are doing our best to connect with you. And this Monday, I will ask Gary and Sr. Pat to continue connecting with you though phone calls or emails. Don't you worry, we are not soliciting, lol, we just want to connect to know how you are doing and send you our prayers and love. I thank you all for loving our Lord. I thank you all for your prayers and continued financial support to our struggling parish. I, as the pastor, am truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful and remarkable parishioners. You all inspire me! God Loves You!
